Itinerary

Day 1Cusco - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes

At 0700 AM, we will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then in our private transport, we will be driving you along the Sacred Valley of Incas to Ollantaytambo train station. Here you will board the train to Aguas Calientes.

The expedition train ride offers you stunning views of highland Andean farms and villages with Urubamba river snaking through them. At Aguas Calientes, we will be meeting you and will be transferring you to the hotel.

You will be having some free time to spend the evening by enjoying a stroll through this rustic town. Aguas Calientes is also popular for hot springs so you can spend the evening by taking a rejuvenating dip.

Our local guide will be meeting you that evening at your hotel and will be briefing you on the following day’s trip .

Day 2Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Early in the morning, the hotel crew will be handing you over a snack box. You will then be boarding a bus from Aguas Calientes to the entrance of Machu Picchu citadel. Here our guide will assist you in clearing the security and entering the citadel.

Once inside, you will be rewarded with a sight of the golden rays of sun shimmering on the walls of the Incan citadel. Our guide will be giving you a detailed tour of the citadel for two hours. On this tour, you will be visiting some of the prime sites which will give you an in-depth information of the citadel.

After the full day tour, our guide will be directing you to the entrance of Huayna Picchu mountain. It is home to the temple of the moon.

From the top of the mountain, you will be getting a spectacular view of the citadel, Machu Picchu mountains and of Sungate which is the entrance point for those on the Inca Trail.

Once you have had your fill of the Inca citadel, you will be taking the bus back to Aguas Calientes. Here you will be boarding the train to Ollantaytambo. Our representative will be meeting you and will be transferring you back to your hotel in the city of Cusco. You will be reaching Cusco at approximately 09:00 PM.

Couple Traveller

An hour and a half climb up Huayna Picchu to take in the best views of Machu Picchu and the Andes that surround it. The hike is very steep and quite challenging, but totally worth it if you can make it to the top. Weather notwithstanding, the hike while challenging and long, is not nearly as dangerous as some pictures and websites would have you believe. After taking in the views, it’s another 45 minutes to hike back to the base of Machu Picchu where you can then tour the Inca city. Otherwise, you can hike another hour down to the Temple of the Moon (The Great Cavern), a mysterious Incan structure built inside of a cave. If you are someone that loves to hike and is in relatively good shape, then this adventure is one you will enjoy. It not only brings that rewarding sense of accomplishment, but it also offers some of the most spectacular views you’ll encounter while in Peru.
